Stone Sour is a Hard Rock band from Iowa formed in 1992. It features both Corey Taylor and Jim Root of Slipknot fame.
History
Formation
Stone Sour was formed in 1992 and released various demos out all the time. They competed against Slipknot in a famous battle of the bands, which Slipknot won. Soon after however, Slipknot, looking for a more "radio friendly" signer, asked Taylor to join the band, which Taylor accepted. A year later Jim Root joined the band. Stone Sour went on hiatus from 1997 till 2002.
Debut Album
In 2002, after Slipknot had finished touring for their second album Iowa, Stone Sour reformed to record their debut, self titled album. It featured many songs from earlier demos. The album has since become gold.
Second Album "Come what(ever) may"
In 2006 Stone Sour recorded their second album "Come what(ever) may". They replaced their old drummer with a new one as their old drummers son was fighting with cancer. "Come what(ever) may" was different from their last album, it had a more unique sound from that of SlipKnoT, which was definately present on their first album.
Third Upcoming Album
In late 2009 Stone announced plans for a third studio album. Recording is already in progress and it is being aimed for an August 2010 release from Roadrunner Records.
