"Rites and Rage" is an unreleased scrapped song from Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.[1][2]
Background[]
- "The band decided 'Rites and Rage' was a bit too 'Jet City Woman' by Queensryche-sounding. Paul's bass line was a bit similar, but that was it. I liked the song because I had some intricate things I was doing on my drums. It was the third song we wrote, and we played it live. It was, however, one of the first to leave our live set."
- —Anders Colsefni[3]
- "Wow, great song. Felt a little how do I say, maybe a little jammy, and possibly not enough time to conquer all lyrical possibilities, but and again, I wouldn't change a thing. Just at that time period, that's why it got cut."
- —Shawn Crahan[4]
