Although the tracklist of the demo with this track gives the name as "May 17" with a cardinal number, it's often pronounced as "May 17th" by band members and fans. It contributed riffs to the song "New Abortion" on Iowa.

- "May 17th? That is a song that was written by Shawn and that was just a date that some bad stuff happened in his life. And he was venting his anger through the song. And I'm pretty sure that whatever those bad things were from back then have been all sewn up."
