Day of the Gusano: Live In Mexico is the second live album and fifth video album released by Slipknot on October 20th, 2017. It's a follow up to both 9.0: Live and {Sic}nesses and is partially meant to promote Slipknot's studio album .5: The Gray Chapter. This live/video album was also created to enshrine the band's first visit to Mexico in 2015.
It was the band's first live album since 2005's 9.0: Live and the band's first video album since 2010's {Sic}nesses, and the first live album to feature bassist Alex Venturella and drummer Jay Weinberg, after the death of original bassist Paul Gray in 2010 and the departure of drummer Joey Jordison in 2013. It is also the band's final live album to feature their longtime percussionist Chris Fehn before his dismissal from the band due to a lawsuit in March 2019.
Promotion for the album first began on June 9, 2017 when Slipknot released a trailer,[1] then in the following weeks they released four clips; "Rehearsals",[2] "The Devil In I",[3] "A Voice for the Fans"[4] and "Duality"[5] on July 24th, August 1st, August 24th and August 31st, 2017 respectively. On August 29th, they released the "Red Carpet Premiere" of Day of the Gusano.[6] The band also released three live performances featuring the songs "Vermilion",[7] "Psychosocial"[8] and "Before I Forget"[9] on September 6th, October 18th, 2017 and April 12th, 2018 respectively. On September 29th, 2017 the band released an extended version of the trailer.[10] And finally on October 16th, 2017 Slipknot released Clown's Day of the Gusano Q&A.[11]
